Adobe Photoshop
(Sessions II & III: Mornings)
Learn the basics of Adobe Photoshop---the computer program that allows you to create and alter graphics and photographs to suit your needs. Fix flaws, add or subtract objects, draw on photos, change colors of objects, and stretch or shrink objects! This program allows you to create “perfect” pictures every time! Spend the week learning how to do magic with Photoshop!

Animated Storybook
(Sessions II: Afternoons)
Animate your favorite childhood picture book with the amazing tools of Microsoft PowerPoint. Combine your creativity with your computer skills to create a new version of your favorite classic story. Rehearse and record your timings to create an entire show. Please note: Students need basic word processing skills prior to this class.
Bring: Three of your favorite picture books.

Blast Off with Rocket Science

Learn about the fantastic explorations of outer space. Create and launch your own rocket, record data, and calculate altitude of each flight. Combine your artistic engineering, and mathematical talents to accomplish lift-off.

Chocolate - Chocolate – Chocolate

Explore the history of chocolate and examine how chocolate is produced. Discover the climates that produce the best cocoa beans. Compare and contrast different types of chocolate. Become a chocolate connoisseur as you judge and rank your favorites. Create chocolate products using various methods. Here is your chance to learn while enjoying the wonderful tastes of chocolate.

Extra! Extra! Read all about it! CK News has immediate openings in all areas. Qualified applicants are responsible for researching, writing and editing stories for a daily newsletter. Be prepared to meet deadlines and produce at least one news feed per day. No previous experience needed- --on the job training will be provided. Interest in writing and research are a must! Hurry and apply for this position as these spots fill quickly!

Be prepared to meet deadlines and produce at least one news story per day. If you have the required qualifications, sign up for this class immediately. The pay is minimal, but the rewards are great!

CK Radio Showcase
(Sessions I, II & III: Mornings)
Use your acting, singing, and/or musical instrument-playing talents to create an original radio show production, complete with costumes, props and sound-effects! Show segment possibilities are limitless---such as: adventure (STAR WARS, PERCY JACKSON & THE OLYMPIANS), fantasy (PETER PAN, HARRY POTTER), horror (TWILIGHT, NEW MOON), or develop an original script.

Confusion Illusion

Study famous optical illusions and learn how to create your own. Why do we see color when there is only black and white? What is the Zollner Effect? See if you have the ability to make organized chaos as you create your own optical illusions.

Denmark
(Session I & II: Afternoons)
Welcome to Denmark! Learn about the traditions of Denmark. Study the legendary writer Hans Christian Andersen, create paper cuttings, make a sculpture and perform a classic fairy tale. Also enjoy a “virtual visit” to Legoland and then create an amusement park like the Tivoli Gardens or a castle fashioned like one of the 600 found in Denmark. Learn why a stork nesting on your rooftop is good luck! Our week would not be complete without sampling a few tasty Danish treats.

Discovering YOU: Psychology and Personality Profiling

How does personality affect relationships? What personality types can you identify? Learn and apply basic principles of psychology to gain insight into your own personality. Use what you learn to analyze your friends and family. See how alike or different you are!

Fit for Life!

Develop and maintain lifelong health as we explore various aspects of physical fitness. Bike, walk, and jog your way to total fitness. Play classic games like kickball and wiffleball along with learning new games like frisbee golf and ultimate frisbee. Come prepared to work both your mind and body!

Grossology (The Science of Really Gross Things)

Explore the “grossness” of our unique body systems. Make fake blood, blisters, boogers, wounds, scabs, and vomit as we explore the complexities of the human body and its many systems. “Snot” for the weak at heart or stomach!

Math Magic
(Session II & III: Mornings)
Unravel mysterious math problems, magic squares, and magic paper! Learn how to dazzle your friends, fool your parents and stump your teachers. All it takes is time, thinking, and lots of fun. Use algebra and geometry to solve problems. Be introduced to other fields of mathematics. This math exploration class will nurture you as a critical thinker and creative problem solver.

Mind Games

Can you spot a traitor in your midst? Do you have a knack for brain teasers? Have you ever wondered what would happen if you changed the past? Mind Games keeps you active both mentally and physically. Learn to read body language, listen to your instincts and talk to your neighbors to gather information as you master the game of Werewolf. Be prepared to be a flexible creative thinker and to think “outside the box” as you explore the strategies you need to become a master at mind games!

Mysteries of History

Why was Stonehenge built? Who was really responsible for the sinking of the Lusitania? Did Troy really exist? Do you like a good mystery? History is full of them! Explore a few of the world’s most famous mysteries and draw your own conclusions about what really happened!

New World Record
(Sessions I & II: Mornings)
Have you ever wondered what it takes to set a world record? Who holds the record for staying underwater the longest, running the 100 yard dash, or blowing the most bubbles in one minute? What training did they undergo in order to set the record? Were they successful the first time they tried or did they make multiple attempts before successfully setting a world record? Some records are set on less than 1/100th of a second. Research some strange and unusual records, and the people who set them. Explore the measurements, and record keeping criteria that it takes to set a world record. Set your own College for Kids record!

Operation Anyone?

Learn how the human body works. Examine how the stomach breaks down food. Find out how your eye processes color and how your brain "sees" thing differently from your eyes. Investigate body systems and how they work together. Learn the art of dissection as we tour the body, one organ system at a time.

Pay It Forward

Want to help make the world a better place to live? Learn and practice the concept of “Pay It Forward.” Together, through community service and volunteering around Fulton, we hope to make a difference during camp and beyond!! Bring a positive attitude and a willingness to help others.

Pop Up Paper

Use your creativity to design original works of art using special folding techniques to make paper come alive. Amaze your friends and family with pop-up cards, story books and paper sculptures!

Sci-Fi Drive-In, Part 2
(Session I, II & III: Mornings)
As AVATAR appears on movie screens and STAR TREK comes out on DVD, last year’s Sci-Fi class is back to continue our journeys to the stars, other dimensions, the past, and the future. Newcomers are welcome to join last year’s classmates as we create our own universes and seek inspiration from your favorite sci-fi books, films, and TV shows.

Explore the colorful, loud, fun and sometimes explosive side of chemistry. Use chemistry to create and explain color changes, huge bubbles, weird smells and effusions of gas! Learn why chemistry works the way it does and how to safely perform experiments. Due to the nature of this class there is an emphasis on safety. NO horseplay allowed.

Stress Busters
(Session I & II: Afternoons)
Do you ever get stressed about a test, presentation, or other big project? Do you enjoy forms of exercise that relaxes both your mind and body? Learn the history of Yoga, Tae Kwon Do, Karate and other martial arts as tools to manage stress and develop self discipline. Practice the moves that help you become the master of your mind and body. Experience the world of relaxation techniques used to help calm your anxiety and relieve your daily stress.

Learn the art of scrapbooking, journaling, and preserving memories while creating your own special book. Use color and design elements to make your photos stand out. Spend the week working on page layouts, journaling, color schemes and other techniques to bring your memories to life. Students should bring 30-40 photographs and be ready to start scrapping on the first day. All other materials are provided.

When the Whole World Was at War
(Sessions I & II: Mornings)
Are you a history buff? Did your grandparents or great-grandparents live through World War II? Join us as we travel back in time to examine this profound period in history. Examine the risks, the "what ifs", and the major world leaders - Franklin D. Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, Stalin, Hitler, and Mussolini. Visit the incredible Churchill memorial in Fulton and uncover what made him one of the greatest leaders of the 20th century. Finally, take part in the "Ultimate WWII Challenge Course" where you trace the steps of the Allies alongside your brave classmates.

Will's World - Macbeth
(Session II: Mornings)
Come learn about the life and times of William Shakespeare and his play, “Macbeth.” It’s the “play-which-shall-not-be-named” by actors in a playhouse, the story of witches and warriors and what happens when greed and deceit are the name of the game. Spend the week learning about the world’s most popular playwright, William Shakespeare and his most popular work!
