Frequently Asked Questions About CK

students?
Answer: The Director of CK, Director of Residential Life,
the Evening Activities Coordinator, and 10 to 12 Residential Life staff
persons will be living on campus at all times during camp (each of these
staff members attend a training session consisting of CPR, First Aid and
child care training). During the day, teachers will also be on campus.
Question: Is there good supervision of the students while
they are in your care?
Answer: Yes, our eyes are never away from your child.
RAs, teachers and staff will be with your child 24 hours a day.
Question: Is the health form due at the time of
registration?
Answer: No, all health forms are due by May 15th along
with your balance due. Remember, parents must sign the health form
in three places (once on the front, and twice on the back).
Question: How can my parents reach me or staff members
during camp?
Answer: At Opening Ceremonies CK will hand out a paper
with the address and phone numbers where we may be reached during camp.
Question: What if I am on medications, how do I handle
that at camp?
Answer: CK has a qualified medic available at all times
of the day and night. She will keep your medications and disperse them
to you as directed.
Question: What is the food like at CK?
Answer: The food at CK is normal "college" food. Each
meal will have at least two choices of a hot entrée, and several cold
entrees. Please notify the Director of any special needs concerning
foods.
Question: Should I bring my Nintendo, or Game Boy to
camp?
Answer: While you are at camp you will be very busy,
there will not be any time to play video games. Our suggestion is
to leave the video games at home.
Question: Why can't I bring my cell phone to camp?
Answer: Cell phones will be available at anytime during
camp to use. There is no time for calling friends, and parents can be
reached at anytime through our phones. Students who have cell phones
have a much harder time with homesickness.
Question: Can my parents visit during camp?
Answer: Yes, your parents may visit at anytime during
the week. Our suggestion is for parents to come eat lunch with you
(there will be a fee charged for extra people eating on campus - we will
announce this fee at Opening Ceremonies). If this is what you have
decided, parents please notify the CK office at check in, or call the
day you are coming (to notify food services and to let staff know you
will be on campus).
Question: Do I need to have a roommate before I sign up?
Answer: No, this would be a great opportunity to meet
someone new! Really, that is what CK is all about, meeting new people
and gaining new friends.
Question: Why do I have to pick 4 different choices for
morning and afternoon classes?
Answer: We are dedicated to small class sizes,
therefore we limit each class to no more than 16 students. If your first
class choice already has 16 students signed up, you will be placed in
your second choice...
